MASLOC Boss receives top award

The Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) has been adjudged the Microfinance and Small Loans CEO of the year.

Mr. Stephen Amoah was acknowledged for his hard work at the 8th edition of the Ghana Entrepreneur and Corporate Executive Awards (GECEA) organized in Accra.

The event, organized by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, recognized the invaluable contribution of entrepreneurs, business executives and corporate institutions towards the socio-economic development of the nation over the past 12 months.

An elated Steve Amoah said the recognition is an attestation that his efforts to transform MASLOC to a word class financial institution.

He said though it has been a herculean task to depoliticize the institution, they are making headway through effective stakeholder engagements.

“Very soon MASLOC will operate like a bank with a focus on small and medium-size enterprises. We are also working to issue biometric cards to all our clients for efficient monitoring” he revealed.

Steve Amoah is convinced he together with his deputies will change the perception people have about the operations of MASLOC.

Meanwhile, the awards were grouped under four categories namely, the Corporate Chief Executive, Public Sector, Entrepreneur and Honorary awards.

In all, 33 personalities and corporate entities were rewarded for their immense contributions to the national economy.

Some of the top awardees include Dr Felix Anyah, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, who was adjudged the Overall Best Public Sector CEO of the Year 2017.

Also, Dr Daniel Mckorley, the Group Chairman of Mcdan Group of Companies, was adjudged the Overall Best Entrepreneur of the Year 2017, while Mrs Jemima Oware, the Registrar-General of the Registrar General’s Department won the Public Sector Woman CEO of the Year 2017.

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Education and Mr John Peter Amewu, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, received honorary awards on the night.

Dr Opoku Prempeh was awarded the Distinguished Public Officer Best Minister of the Year for the successful roll-out of the free Senior High School Policy, while Mr Amewu was recognized as the Distinguished Public Officer Entrepreneur Hall of Fame for his relentless fight against illegal small-scale mining.

The 8th Ghana Entrepreneur and Corporate Executive Awards, 2018 was under the theme, “Enhancing Business Growth through Corporate Entrepreneurship Development.”
