The Micro Finance and Small Loans Center (MASLOC) has begun a nationwide tour to assist rural folks in accessing funds for their businesses.

Chief Executive of the loans company, Sedina Tamekloe Attionu and her deputy, Mustapha Abubakar recently visited the Northern,  Upper East and Upper West regions where they extended support to women engaged in various small businesses.

In all, women about 25 communities in the Northern Region, 20 communities in the Upper East Region and 14 communities in the Upper West Region benefited from an amount of GH¢580,300 during the visit, according to MASLOC.

A total of about 1,224 poor and marginalised in the communities of the three regions of the north of the country received financial support, said MASLOC Deputy CEO Mustapha Abubakar.

Communities visited in the Northern Region include Damango, Bole, Tamale, Bimbilla, Yendi among others.

In the Upper East Region, the MASLOC managers visited Bolga, Navrongo, Sandema, Bawku and Zebilla. They also toured Wa Central,  Nadowli, Hamile,Gwollu,  Tumu and many others in the Upper West Region.

According Mrs. Sedina Tamakloe Attionu the visit was in fulfillment of President Mahama's promise to support the underprivileged in these communities by empowering their quest to create jobs.

She stated that MASLOC is determined in continuing its support for the marginalised in the society.

She, however, advised beneficiaries of the loans to make it a point to pay back their debts to enable others to benefit from the scheme.

Mustapha Abubakar also assured applicants on MASLOC's waiting list that the loans centre would soon liaise with the MMDCE's to create satellite offices in selected districts to bring the credit scheme to their door steps.

According to him, these interventions are a part of the Better Ghana Agenda being espoused by the government.

"As we present cheques to beneficiaries today we are putting money in their pockets on behalf of Government", the MASLOC Deputy CEO said.

The youth in these three regions were not left out as they were presented with 70 TVS tricycles to facilitate their transportation of goods.

Mustapha Abubakar revealed that the MASLOC team would reaching out to other regions of the country to touch more lives.
