The Multimedia Group has apologised to New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the two representatives who were denied participation in the broadcaster’s flagship news analysis show, Newsfile, on Saturday.
Host of the show Samson Lardi Ayenini had remarked that the two gentlemen who had been nominated by the party to represent it on the show did not meet the show's production standards.
However, The Multimedia Group wishes to state that the comment by the Newsfile host was not intended to denigrate the two individuals nominated by the NPP to represent it on the show.
Below is the full statement:
This comment by the host of Newsfile seems to have hurt many people and has generated a controversy.
The intention was not to denigrate the person of those who the NPP chose to represent it on Newsfile yesterday.
The decision on who appears on any of our shows rests with the editorial team and we would stand by those decisions.
However, we apologise unreservedly for the use of words that suggest that the two gentlemen are not up to the standard.
We apologise.
