Gospel musician and music producer, Nacee is entreating music lovers to appreciate music as a tool for commerce and not a gift that must be used for free.
In an exclusive conversation with Joy Entertainment, Nacee explained that the religious backgrounds of most Ghanaians subconsciously makes them perceive music as gift one receives freely. Because of this, many don't understand why they must invest heavily in music to enjoy the end-benefits of such gifts.
"Some of the things that were preached to us from the beginning were that talent was given to us for free so it must be given out for free. So anytime a musician is making money from music, the corporate, the people, the society wonders why somebody performs for 15 minutes and be paid about 50, 000 cedis or 100, 000 cedis.
"That has brought us to a level where people don't really appreciate talents. But all they say, it is better now. Maybe some of us may not benefit fully but by the next ten or twenty years, those people will enjoy it more, and definitely, somebody should take the blow for something to enjoy," he said.
This posture according to Nacee, deprives many musicians of their due as many of them are shortchanged after heavily financing their music projects.
In that same interview, Nacee also addressed the celebrity look-alike trend that's dominating social media in Ghana lately.
He opined that he doesn't mind training a look-alike of his to develop their own talent but won't condone the instance where his songs will be performed by them at functions in his stead.
