The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif has met with agencies under his Ministry as he officially assumed office.
The meeting, which was held last week at the conference hall of the ministry was attended by Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi, Acting Director of the Winneba Sports college, Noah Abubakar, and National Youth Authority’s (NYA) acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nelson Owusu Ansah and their deputies.
The Member of Parliament for the Yagaba - Kubori constituency met with heads of the three agencies to officially introduce himself and outlined his vision to the leadership of the various institutions.
He told the leadership of his plans to revive school sports at all levels and Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) Games and called on the agencies to throw their weight behind him to succeed.
The MP called for their support to make Ghana sports a viable industry, saying, the success of the agencies is a success for Ghana sports and only teamwork will help them to be successful.
The Minister also reiterated his commitment to giving equal support and attention to all agencies under his office.
He acknowledged the enormous works and contribution they have made over the years for the overall success of the ministry.
Hon Ussif called for their support to continue the 'good works' of his predecessors. He stated that it’s almost impossible to develop and promote sports without resources and infrastructure and indicate his commitment to ensuring that the Sports Fund becomes operational.
He added that it’s only when our National teams are adequately resourced that we can demand a lot from them.
The meeting was described as a fruitful one as all involved promised to play their roles diligently to make his tenure a memorable one.
