The Executive Secretary of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), Dr Prince Hamid Armah, has opened a nine-day workshop currently being held at Larteh in the Eastern region. The workshop is to develop the Teacher and Learner Resource materials to support the implementation of the Common Core Curriculum. NaCCA workshop NaCCA workshop Dr Armah while addressing the participants on behalf of the Education Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, emphasised the need for the Teacher and Learner Resource Packs to complement the effective implementation of the Common Core Programme (CCP) scheduled to be rolled out in September this year. In addition, Dr Prince Hamid Armah reiterated the point that the resource packs would only serve as a 'stop-gap' measure, as we wait for the development of textbooks and teacher's guides from publishers for the implementation of the CCP subjects-Curricula for B7-B10. NaCCA workshop NaCCA workshop Dr Armah commended participants for demonstrating a higher level of commitment and dedication to improving Ghana’s educational system through the reformation of the curriculum. NaCCA workshop NaCCA workshop He thanked participants for their continuous support and encouraged them to give off their very best to ensure that the ultimate goal of making our learners locally relevant and globally competitive through education is achieved. In all, a total of 60 writers and two resource persons (from Cambridge International, UK) are participating in the workshop. The material developers were drawn from the teacher training institutions, universities, educational consultants, curriculum specialists and classroom teachers who are both in the junior and senior high schools.
