The National Disaster Management Organization in the Northern Region is appealing for aid for victims of rainstorms in the Nanumba District. Even though some relief items have been distributed, NADMO says a lot more needs to be done. Several houses and schools were destroyed following the rainstorm and over a thousand people are said to have been rendered homeless. The Bimbilla Hospital has discharged two people who were reported to have been seriously injured. Some of the victims who spoke to Joy News say they are counting on NADMO to ameliorate their situation. They confirm the NADMO officials have come around with a promise of bringing them relief items, but the items they say are yet to come. The NADMO Coordinator for Bimbilla, Kojo Nlibe in an interview with Joy News empathized with the residents, some of who he said had their houses completely consumed by the floods. He said NADMO and the District Assembly have provided them with some cooking materials, and some blankets but conceded the items were woefully inadequate. He also admitted they are constrained and needed support. Source: Joy News/Ghana
