The Sunyani Police have arrested Bashiru Kramo, a known National Democratic Congress (NDC) figure in Sunyani, the Brong Ahafo regional capital, for brutally assaulting a popular New Patriotic Party (NPP) serial caller.
Bashiru was arrested on Tuesday dawn at his hideout in Sunyani and is currently in police custody.
He and another NDC hooligan are reported to have attacked Abass Saddique aka ‘Abenwoha’, last week Tuesday, at his shop in the Sunyani Market.
The NDC thugs were believed to have been hired by their paymasters in the party to silence the vociferous NPP activist who has been a thorn in the flesh of the ruling government.
The assault landed Abenwoha on the hospital bed at the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital for a while as he experienced general body pains and weakness.
The two assailants feigned interest in buying a pair of shoes from Abenwoha and in the process carried out their mission by beating him mercilessly.
Meanwhile, police sources have hinted Daily Guide that the police are leaving no stone unturned to arrest the other accomplice who is also believed to be in a hideout.
Abenwoha, 27, a shoe dealer in the Sunyani Market and a unit committee member at the Sunyani Zongo, told Daily Guide that he had been receiving several threats on his life following his critique of the Mills-led NDC administration on radio.
