The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central Constituency, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has announced plans to construct a waterfall in the area by next year as part of efforts to boost tourism and the local economy.
Speaking to Joy Prime on the sidelines of the ongoing Gomoa Easter Carnival, he said the project forms part of a broader vision to transform the constituency into a vibrant tourism hub.
“The last time I went to Dubai, I saw a penguin. People leave Ghana for Dubai to see a penguin. Next time, when you come to the Gomoa Easter Carnival, you will see a waterfall. As we speak, currently, there is no waterfall in Gomoa. But next Easter Carnival, you will see a huge waterfall, maybe bigger than any waterfall you can find anywhere. There are so many people who travel to other countries to see waterfalls which are artificial and we can build waterfalls here. I will build a waterfall in Gomoa,” he said.
He noted that the initiative is aimed at driving economic activity in Gomoa Central through tourism-led development.
A Plus is not only a politician but also a creative industry player and social commentator, known for using entertainment-driven initiatives to promote development in his constituency.
The Gomoa Easter Carnival is a four-day festival scheduled from April 2 to April 5, 2026, across various communities in the Gomoa Central Constituency. It features activities such as a bonfire night, art exhibitions, food bazaars, masquerades and a grand durbar of chiefs, alongside street performances and cultural displays aimed at showcasing the heritage of the Gomoa people and stimulating local businesses.
There are musical performances from top Ghanaian artistes such as Kwabena Kwabena, Ofori Amponsah, Kofi Kinaata, Kuami Eugene, Samini and Shatta Wale, as well as emerging talents.
Other artistes on the bill include KK Fosu, Dada Hafco, Bisa Kdei, Kofi Nti, Bless, Kwanpa, Sarkodie, Obrafuor, Kwaw Kese, Keche, Okyeame Kwame, Sista Afia, Tinny, Amerado, Nero X, Sefa and VVIP.
The event, an initiative of Kwame Asare Obeng, is being organised in partnership with the Multimedia Group Limited as part of efforts to position Gomoa as a key tourism and cultural destination in Ghana.
It is sponsored by HotWav phones.
