National Democratic Congress' Women's organizer for Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency Mrs. Gladys Kwakye was locked up to prevent her from filing her nomination forms on deadline day Thursday.
She was locked up in her house by some branch women organizers. She was locked around 3pm Thursday for at least three hours and was released after 6:45pm when the deadline for submission had passed.
At the close of nominations two persons - Joseph Okyere and Kwame Dzokoto - had filed their papers.
Mrs Kwakye, who is the wife of the late Chairman of the constituency Stephen Kwakye, had picked a form to contest the Tarkwa Nsuaem Parliamentary primary in the Western region.
Numbering about 20, the women accused Mrs. Kwakye of not giving respect to her late husband who passed away just a few months ago.
They say the woman should mourn her husband for about a year before making any political decision.
They also feel betrayed by Gladys Kwakye because all the women's organisers in the constituency had agreed to allow Kwame Dzokoto to go unopposed.
Kwame Dzokoto, host of popular TV programme, “Edziban” is currently the Deputy Propaganda Secretary of the NDC in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency.
According to the women, Mrs. Kwakye can be more effective in her current position than as a parliamentary candidate.
Deadline for the submission of nomination forms ended in all regions except the Ashanti region. The parliamentary primaries is set for November 7 2015.
The Tarkwa Nsuaem seat is held by Gifty Eugenia Kusi of the oppostion New Patriotic Party (NPP).
