The Progressive Forces of the Northern Region (PFNR), a youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed displeasure at the ongoing wrangling within the party.
The group has therefore warned that such actions would drag the party into the mud if care was not taken.
It observed that the party was currently divided as a result of factions that emerged following the opening and picking of nomination forms for the flag-bearer position resulting in the national, regional and constituency branches pointing fingers at each other.
Spokesperson of the group, Mr Abdul-Rauf Junaid, called for unity to ensure the progress of the government when he was addressing a press conference in Tamale on Saturday.
"It is important for the former President and former First Lady to take a look into the future political life of the forth coming generation within our mother NDC rather than firing verbal salvos which will plunge NDC into severe crisis," he indicated.
The youth expressed worry about the use of unhealthy words against each other in the party and asked that "If we use our weapons and bullets on ourselves, what shall we use on our friends on the other side of the political divide?"
The group appealed to NDC founder Jerry John Rawlings, the Council of Elders and the top hierarchy of the party to try and bring the divided camps together to build a unified winning team.'United we stand, divided we fall,' it added.
The group also suggested that to ease tension, the various camps within the party must be given key roles to play in delivering the Better Ghana Agenda for success in 2012.Source: GNA
