Two of the three gates involved in an arbitration to amicably settle the Anlo Chieftaincy dispute is kicking against Monday’s outdooring of Patrick Agboba as the new Awomefia.
Spokesperson for Fuga Agbeve and Adika Drafor families of the Adzovia Royal family, Kobla Kwawukume told Joy News the action of the Dei Azinaxada Gate is illegal because no agreement has been reached.
The Warlord of Anlo, Torgbui Agbesi Awusi II, is scheduled to introduce the new Awomefia to people of Anlo at a ceremony to be attended by foreign dignitaries and some government officials.
But the dissenting royal family said the ceremony was illegal.
“The two gates, namely the Fuga Agbeve and Adika Drafor families still continue to maintain that Mr Patrick Agbogba is not the legitimate heir to the throne and his purported nomination, selection, installation and outdooring is contrary to Anlo custom and tradition,” Mr Kobla Kwawukume said.
He told Joy News’ Eric Ahianyo there were cases pending before the courts in respect of the matter and saw Monday’s function as contemptuous.
In his view even, though the disputing parties had agreed to submit themselves to compulsory arbitration, the process had not started.
