President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said reiterated his commitment to the provision of potable water across the country.
He said it is in this regard that government secured €85,112,854 from the Deutsche Bank towards the provision of potable water for the needy communities.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Keta Water Expansion Project in Agodome, he said the lack of drinkable water would soon be a thing of the past.
"Government is not relenting in its effort to guarantee access to water for all Ghanaians no matter where they may be, a 2016 manifesto commitment of the New Patriotic Party which remains a key priority," he said.
Upon completion, the project is expected to benefit over 422,160 people living in Agordome, Sogakope, Keta, Anloga and surrounding areas.
Other beneficiary communities include; Kpodze, Kpotame, Vume, Tefle, Sokpoe, Dabala Junction, Tregui, Badadzi, Havedzi, Adzeto, Tegbi, Hovi-Aferdome, Kedzi and Nukpesekope.
This comes shortly after he cut the sod for the construction of the Tamale Water Supply Project, as part of his tour of the Northern Region in July.
In March, Parliament has approved a €97.18 million credit facility agreement between the government and the Deutsche Bank to finance the expansion and rehabilitation of the Keta water supply system.
The facility, which is supported by the Italian Export Credit Agency, comprises an €84.42 million buyer credit and a €12.76 million commercial facility.
