Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has filed his nomination forms to contest in the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries.
Dr. Bawumia submitted his forms to the Presidential Elections Committee of the party at its headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.
Delivering a speech after the submission of the form, the Vice President who was flanked by some MPs and CEOs said, he has his own vision to take Ghana to the next level in the emerging Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Dr. Bawumia explained that having assisted President Akufo-Addo to realise his vision for Ghana as Vice President, he is contesting to be President to implement his visions and build on the foundations put in place.
"Notwithstanding the economic challenges of our time, our government has constructed more infrastructure than any other government in the fourth republic and many transformational policies have been introduced for the first time in our history, including the Ghana Card, Digital Address, Mobile Money Interoperability, delivery of medicines by drones, One District One Factory, Planting for Food and Jobs, Zongo Development Fund, Agenda 111, Free TVET and Free SHS to mention a few. We have also created 2.1 million jobs in six years, more than any government in the fourth republic.
"Having implemented these transformational policy initiatives, it is very important that we don’t go backwards as a country. We cannot put the country back in the hands of people who don’t have an understanding of and belief in the vision. That is why it important for us to break the eight. There is still much more to do," Dr. Bawumia told party supporters.
The filing of the nomination forms makes Vice President Dr. Bawumia the second to complete the task out of the 10 people who have picked up form to contest in the NPP's presidential primaries.
Already, former Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen has filed his nomination to contest.
The flagbearer aspirant filed his nomination on Monday, June 12.

According to them, the former Trades and Industry Minister is the right candidate to lead the party.
