The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has constituted a seven-member ad hoc committee to oversee issues arising from the recent amnesty granted to suspended party members and other matters the party is battling with.
Addressing the media in Accra on Wednesday, November 5, the General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua, announced that the committee, chaired by Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, MP for Asante-Akim Central constituency, will provide strategic guidance on the scope and implementation of the amnesty initiative.
"This Committee will advise the Party on the extent, scope, and implementation of the amnesty measures," he said.
Other members include former national chairman Peter Mac Manu, Divine Agorhum, Rabi Salifu and Ernest Kumi.
The National Steering Committee has also referred a petition against the Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, Kwaku Asante Boateng, to the NPP’s National Disciplinary Committee.
Party leadership noted that the action was taken at its meeting on Tuesday, 3rd November 2025, following complaints from concerned members.
"At its meeting on Tuesday, November 3, 2025, the National Steering Committee resolved to refer a petition submitted by concerned party members against Hon. Kwaku Asante Boateng, Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, to the National Disciplinary Committee," Justin Kodua noted.
The General Secretary stated that the Party “condemns in no uncertain terms” the alleged conduct attributed to the legislator, describing it as inconsistent with the NPP’s guiding principles.
Recently, Mr. Asante Boateng labelled the former Vice President, now the 2028 NPP Flagbearer, hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia an outsider and an alien in the NPP, claiming he was not fit to lead the party as its presidential candidate.
