A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, Emmanuel Senyo Amekplenu, has formally requested detailed information from the Ghana Audit Service regarding its financial activities for the 2025 fiscal year.
The request, submitted pursuant to Article 21(1)(f) of the 1992 Constitution and the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989), seeks to promote transparency, accountability, and prudent public financial management.
In his application, Mr Amekplenu requested a comprehensive statement of all expenses incurred by the Ghana Audit Service for 2025 to date, including itemised breakdowns by department, programme, and cost category. He also sought access to the approved procurement plan for the same period.
The request further called for detailed information on all goods, works, and services procured by the Ghana Audit Service from 1 January 2025 to the present. Specifically, the NPP communications team member asked for:
- A description and category of each procurement
- The procurement method employed
- Contract sums
- Names of contractors, suppliers, or service providers
- Contract award dates
- Contract status and expected completion timelines
“This request is made in the public interest to promote transparency, accountability, and prudent public financial management,” Mr Amekplenu stated.
The request also specifies that the information should be provided in electronic form, where available, and that any need for clarification be communicated promptly.
Mr Amekplenu expressed confidence that the Ghana Audit Service would process the application within the statutory timelines set out under the RTI Act.
