Residents of Ntiribuoho, a fast growing community, in the Afigya-Kwabre District, have appealed to the Ashanti Regional Police Command for more security protection to save them from attacks by robbery gangs.
They said the robbers have virtually imposed a reign of terror in the area, attacking, especially travellers, both in broad daylight and night, with impunity.
Mr Sampson Adu-Poku, a member of the Unit Committee, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that some of the criminals sometimes pose as travellers, join taxi-cabs and midway through the journey rob unsuspecting victims of their money, cell phones and other valuables.
He said the miscreants reportedly have their hideouts at Asuofua, Ohwim and Amanfrom.
Within the past two weeks they have struck three times - twice in the daytime and one during the night.
Mr Adu-Poku said the police needed to extend their patrols to the area to help rein them in to ensure that the people have their peace.Source: GNA
