Former Ghana Football Association Chairman Dr Nyaho Tamakloe is calling on the Black Stars Management Committee to investigate the current practice of players taking temporary leave from the senior national team with questionable excuses.
His statement came after France-based players Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew announced their temporary retirement from team on Tuesday. The decision by the sons of football legend Abedi Pele comes in the wake of their exclusion from Ghana’s squad during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Dr Tamakloe believes if this practice is not nipped in the bud, it will be disastrous for the future of the team.
“If you agree with me, the circumstances leading to the exit Ayew brothers is different and I think we need to do things different because we need these two play makers in the team and therefore the FA and the management committee must wake up and to stop this current trend,” he told Joy Sports.
Andre scored four goals in 43 appearances for Ghana while Jordan scored twice as many in his 10 matches with the Black Stars.
