FRormer chairman of the Ghana Football Association Dr Nyaho Tamakloe says he will be shocked if the GFA hands yet-to-be-confirmed Black Stars coach Avram Grant the task of winning the 2015 AFCON.
The Ghana FA will have an Executive Committee meeting on Thursday to discuss the targets for the Israeli manager.
Grant will have less than four weeks to work with his squad for the tournament which will be hosted by Equatorial Guinea.
This former Ghana FA chairman believes will not be right for the FA to task him the former Chelsea manager to win the tournament
“I will be very surprised if the GFA takes that stand and give him that responsibility at this time,” He told Joy sports
“He doesn’t know the boys, he has never handled them, the boys have been handled by another person and if he will be sincere with himself ( Avram Grant) he can tell them to wait until they finish with the Nations Cup tournament then he come on board as a trainer.”
Tamakloe has suggested that in order, not for the GFA to task Avram to win the Nations they should consider Maxwell Konadu to lead the team to the AFCON, after which Avram can take over.
“If Konadu has handled the boys to this far, I think Konadu should be left to finish with his job no matter the result then we know we have completed with one phase then Avram Grant comes on to continue.”
