A symposium on the critical issue of press freedom and responsible journalism as Ghana is 105 days away from the December general elections will come off today.
This programme is organised by the Forum for Media Accountability and Democratic Governance, in collaboration with pressure group, Occupy Ghana.
The symposium will invite its rich panel of experts and practitioners to probe the question, ‘Should there be any limit on what people say or write in the media?'

The event comes off two days before the remission granted the Montie 3 by President John Mahama which will see them released from custody, after serving a quarter of their 4-month prison sentence for criminal contempt of court passed by the Supreme Court.
The presidential remission granted the three men who are all supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) after they threatened judges with death, has raised a lot of constitutional, moral and political questions.
The discussants are renowned lawyer, Ace Ankomah, veteran journalist and Editor of the Chronicle newspaper, Ebo Quansah, and former Cabinet Minister and respected veteran international journalist and writer, Elizabeth Ohene.
The symposium, which comes off at the Christ The King Hall ”ªstarts at 4pm”¬ prompt, will seek to situate the issues in the context of the national pursuit for peaceful and credible elections.
It will also look at the vital role the media is expected to play in this regard in light of the Montie 3 developments.
