One person is confirmed dead and scores of people have been rendered homeless in Bolgatanga following a heavy downpour, Wednesday.
Joy News has learned that the entire Zuarungu-Moshe community is now inaccessible following the collapse of the main bridge that links the community to the Bolgatanga Township.
There are also reports that teachers and other health officials including nurses could not work today (Thursday) because of the severity of the situation.
The National Disaster Management Organisation’s Municipal Coordinator, Timothy Anas who confirmed the death to Joy News is calling for external support.
Meanwhile the Assemblyman for the area Moses Abilba told Joy News the community is helpless.
He said farmlands have been flooded with all their animals carried away.
According to him, “the place is completely cut off, you can’t even access it on foot,” he stressed.
Joy News' Albert Sori who visited the area said the situation could be worse.
According to him, it is still raining, sending dire signals in the area.
He said the National Disaster Management Organisation was yet to provide the people with relief items.
