President Akufo-Addo has said the late statesman J.H Mensah pointed out the double track system over a decade ago as a way of making good use of the infrastructure in the country’s schools.
The founding member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) believed that the nation’s school infrastructure lays dormant for the most part of the year without use, the president recalled.
J.H Mensah was a founding member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP). He served the country from 1953, till his passing on July 12, 2018, at 89.
His last official appointment was in 2005 when he was appointed Senior Minister by the second President of the 4th Republic, John Agyekum Kufuor.
In a personal eulogy by the President at the funeral service of Mr Mensah, he described him as an “insightful person” who will be sorely missed.

“His role as a Senior Minister in the government of his brother-in-law, then president J.A Kufuor was invaluable. He was experienced, far-sighted, visionary and brought his great intellect to the consideration of the difficult matters that government had to address," he said.
In attendance were former presidents J.A Kufuor, John Mahama, ministers of state, rank and file of the NPP, members of the diplomatic corps and member of the general public.
