Police in the Western Region have begun investigations into circumstances leading to the death of a 25 year-old driver’s mate to see if he committed suicide or was killed by another person.
Jomoro District Police Commander, Superintendent John Fergusson Dzinaku said “doctors have confirmed the cause of death as strangulation due to hanging but the police is unsure of the reason he hanged himself”.
The body of the deceased, Kwadwo Odum was found hanging with an electric wire against the roof of a summer hut with a kitchen stool placed on a wooden chair beneath him.
Supritendent Dznaku said the police is making efforts to get in touch with any of his close friends and possibly a girlfriend to find out if something had happened during the week which could have influenced his decision to hang himself.
He indicated that the police are looking at the possibility that someone else had hanged him and will not “rule out foul play during the investigations”.
