The Ghana Police Service with support from the British High Commission and MTN has launched a short code 18555 to aid its crime fighting drive.
Director General of Police Operations, DCOP John Kudalor who described crime fighting as “no joke” called on the public to make good use of the MTN short code to inform them of any crime going on at any part of the country because the police are not “magicians” to know everything.
He was also grateful to the public for providing them with a number of leads that have led to the arrests of some criminals in society.
Mr Kudalor commended the British High Commission for its immense support in resourcing the communication office of the service to enhance its crime fighting operations.
Acting Commissioner of the British High Commission, Matthew Johnson, pledges UK’s commitment to support the police service.
He commended the Ghana Police Service for its good records of accomplishment and called on the public to support it because policing should be a concerted effort with each and everyone playing a part.
Georgina Fiagbenu, Senior Manager, Corporate Communication of MTN, assured her outfit’s unflinching support to the police to provide adequate security to the citizenry.
A number of fliers and stickers have been produced to educate the public about the existence of the code.
