Police in Kumasi have seized a cache of arms and ammunition at a private residence in the Sekyere East District in the Ashanti region.
The weapons, both foreign and locally manufactured were discovered following a tip-off.
Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Augustine Gyenning, says no arrest has been made in connection with the seizure but the landlord has officially been declared wanted.
Erastus Asare Donkor of Luv FM reports that three pump action guns, one foreign and two locally manufactured pistols, one single-barrel and two double-barrel guns, one short gun and many rounds of ammunition were retrieved.
According to DCOP Augustine Gyenning, the owner of the house in a phone conversation with the police confirmed ownership of the arms.
Though the owner promised to report to the police for further investigation, he is yet to show up.
Mr Gyenning said police in the region have mounted search for illegal arms and ammunition following the murder of a couple at Twedie, the district capital of Atwima Kwanwoma in the Ashanti Region.
