An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced a porter to eight months imprisonment for rubbing his penis on the buttocks of an 11-year old girl and ejaculating on her.
Nii Nai Sowah, 23, charged with indecent assault, pleaded guilty and prayed the court to have mercy on him.
The court, presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, therefore, convicted Sowah on his plea and sentenced him accordingly.
Prosecuting, Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the complainant is a 35-year old fishmonger residing at James Town. The victim is the complainant’s daughter.
He said the accused person resided at La, Accra. In March this year, the accused person visited his uncle at James Town and slept under a shed where the complainant and her daughter used to pass the night.
On April 1, this year, at about 0200 hours, the complainant and the victim slept under the shed as usual. The complainant woke up and went to urinate.
Prosecution said soon after the complainant left to urinate, the accused person drew closer to the victim and removed her pants to her knee level and rubbed his penis on her buttocks.
In the process, prosecution said the accused ejaculated and smeared his semen on the victim’s buttocks. When Sowah was about to leave, the complainant arrived and raised the alarm.
Prosecution said Sowah was arrested and escorted to the James Town Police Station and later the matter was referred to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit.
During interrogation, Sowah admitted the offence in his caution statement.
