The power crises could improve slightly by next month after repair works on the Jubilee compressor is completed.
The equipment, which is used to extract gas from the Jubilee Field for the Atuabo gas processing plant, broke down early this month.
Repair works should have been completed last week but had to be extended due to technical challenges.
This affected supply of gas to the country’s thermal plants worsening the already erratic power situation.
However, Petroleum Minister Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, says works are being fast-tracked to help stabilize the current situation.
“What is important here is that we must take steps to ensure that we address the challenges and I am happy we are doing that we with Tullow”, he said.
The Atuabo Gas Processing Plant operated by the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) uses small volumes of natural gas from the Jubilee field to produce power.
Meanwhile, Government has also purchased crude oil for thermal plants in Tema in the Greater Accra region.
Government explains the crude oil will need treatment to remove metallic content for safe use. The treatment which takes a week is expected to be complete over the weekend.
