The Ghana Education Service (GES) has launched an investigation into an alleged theft involving a Golden Dragon school bus belonging to Tsito Senior High School (SHS).
The incident came to light on Friday, January 17, 2025, when a video surfaced showing 100 cartons of tin tomatoes being offloaded from the bus along the Sokode Gborgame-Akrofu road and loaded into a taxi.
According to the preliminary report, "the Headmaster of Tsito SHS, Rev. Joy Cafui Akpebu, revealed that on January 16, 2025, the storekeepers of both Tsito SHS and Awudome SHS were tasked with collecting their schools’ allocated provisions from the Mawuli School Food Distribution Centre.
"The allocations included: Tsito SHS -10 bags of Tom Brown and 50 cartons of tin tomatoes and Awudome SHS - 20 bags of Tom Brown and 150 cartons of tin tomatoes."

However, the Storekeeper of Tsito SHS alleged that an additional 100 cartons of tin tomatoes were loaded onto the bus by one Pius, an employee of the Regional Free SHS Secretariat. These extra cartons were reportedly intended to be dropped off at a private location along the Sokode-Akrofu road for Pius's personal benefit.
Events Leading to the Incident
After delivering the allocated provisions to Tsito SHS on January 16, 2025, the 100 extra cartons reportedly remained on the school bus overnight without the Headmaster’s knowledge.
It added that "the following day, the Headmaster instructed the bus driver to take the vehicle for new tyres in preparation for an official trip. However, during this errand, the driver and the storekeeper allegedly diverted to offload the extra cartons along the Sokode-Akrofu road."
An eyewitness reportedly filmed the cartons being loaded into a taxi with registration number GR 5051 U. The video was circulated on social media, leading to the taxi driver’s arrest to assist with investigations.
Ongoing Investigations
The Regional Education Directorate has invited several individuals for questioning, including the Headmaster of Tsito SHS, the Storekeepers of Tsito SHS and Awudome SHS, the bus driver of Tsito SHS, Pius, the staff member from the Regional Free SHS Secretariat.
Additionally, the Regional Internal Audit Unit has been tasked with verifying the transactions and allocations to the two schools involved.
