President J.E.A. Mills has appealed to Ghanaians to bury their political differences and place the country first in their hearts so as to ensure the rapid socio economic development of the country as well as the welfare of the citizenry.
In his goodwill and thanksgiving messages relayed to the Chief Executive of the Bekwai Municipal Assembly, Hon. Noah Asante Manu, for the people within the area during his (Hon. Noah) eight-day familiarization tour, President Mills thanked the Chiefs, opinion leaders, the opposition and entire residents in the Municipality for showing maturity to vote peacefully during the 2008 general elections, adding that the people of Bekwai understand democracy as they are known to be peace promoters.
According to President Mills, he is not thanking the people to claim credit for himself nor the NDC but rather giving credit to all Ghanaians through whose patience and political maturity, they country recorded violence free elections in 2008.
The Municipal Chief Executive went on that the President was of the opinion that many countries were plagued by bloody wars which destroy their economies as a result of election violence and therefore he felt proud to thank Ghanaians for showing political maturity by ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in the country during and after the elections.
President pointed out that no political party is bigger than the country and therefore through unity and fraternity we should do away with politics of division and work hard to move the country forward since we are one people with one common destiny. He assured that the National Cake would be shared equally devoid of asking who belongs to this party or that.
Hon. Noah, who used four days to tour his area on a familiarization mission to deliver the Presidential message, visited 31 communities and was welcomed and embraced due to the warming message from the castle. He also used the occasion to advise the communities to show respect for elders especially Chiefs, the Unit Committee and Assembly Members and also promote unity, since unity is strength.
About problems associated with development projects like roads, places of convenient (KVIP’s), Power, Schools and teachers accommodation within the area, Hon. Noah Asante Manu gave the assurance that he will put measures in place to solve them to enhance the development agenda of the district.
