A rainstorm has ravaged the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region destroying properties running into millions of Ghana cedis.
According to Joy FM’s regional Correspondent, Joseph Osei, heavy rains accompanied by violent storms started on Tuesday and whirled around the Bolga Municipality devouring everything on their way.
He said the rains terminated only Wednesday morning after wreaking havoc on private and public properties.
Roofs of homes and schools have been ripped off, trees have been uprooted and other properties have been destroyed, says Joseph Osei.
The entire roof of the Bolgatanga Municipal police station is gone just as that of the kitchen of the Regional Coordinating Council.
School children whose schools had their roofs ripped off have been left stranded and confused, Joseph Osei reported.
The Upper West Regional Minister Mr Mark Woyongo and officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation are set to tour the areas devastated by the storms and assess the extent of damage.
The rainstorm is said to be the heaviest witnessed by the region in years.
