A veteran record breaker will do one final stunt before retiring after being injured necking a pint of beer while upside down.
Peter Dowdeswell, 71, has racked up more than 350 bizarre records over 37 years for speed eating and drinking.
But in his beer feat in July, he says he was twice dropped on his back by two men who held his legs for BBC1’s Epic Win show.
He said: “Since then, I’ve been getting worse, especially my back and my shoulder. If I could carry on I would, but I can’t.”
In his last record attempt on Friday, he will try to eat 12 sausages in 10 seconds while lying on a bed of nails balanced on his friend’s head.
The father of three, of Earls Barton, Northants, has raised ÂŁ4.5million for disabled children.
He is currently fighting the BBC for compensation for loss of earnings
