The Greater Accra Regional Minister Julius Debrah and the Chief Executive of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Alfred Oko Vanderpuiye will meet traders at Kantamanto tomorrow to resolve pressing problems that have arisen out of the fire outbreak. The Chairman of the Kantamanto Traders Association Samuel Amoah disclosed this on Adom TV’s Badwam. He revealed that the meeting is for the two parties to adopt measures for them to repay loans traders solicited from various banks to do business. Yesterday, President John Dramani Mahama ordered for a meeting between government and the traders to resolve the entrenched positions taken by the victims. The victims have since Sunday insisted on building the market themselves. They fear they will be out-priced by new tenants should government put up the market. Samuel Amoah stated that government during the meeting proposed to send the traders to Odawna market and Tuesday market as a temporary measure till the construction for the new market is completed. But he said this will not help them since the proposed areas will not be able to contain the over fifteen thousand traders who lost their goods due to the outbreak. He called on government to reconsider that stance and allow them sell at the same premises. He said they were pleased with the discussions so far with government, adding that the consideration to negotiate with the traders in the construction of the market was welcome news.
