Founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil is urging Ghanaians to remain calm as the country and the world continue to battle with the coronavirus pandemic.
Delivering his seventh service online since the ban on public gathering, he explained that to progress in life there must be movement; a crossover from one point to another, and while at it, there will be a storm to overcome, which is currently being represented by the pandemic.
“Our world started the month of January with a lot of hope and then we were hit somewhere in the middle of January to February with this pandemic disrupting our lives,” Otabil said.
Quoting Mark 4:35-41, Mensa Otabil said just as the disciplines assumed that in the presence of Jesus, they won't be shaken but were hit by a storm, “many of us assume if God is with us nothing can go wrong and that everything will be cool.
"But Jesus was with them and things started going wrong. So is it possible to have God with you and still things go wrong? According to the scripture yes,” he stressed.
He was however quick to add that, Jesus did not let his disciples go on the crossover journey alone, hence it is impossible for Christians to struggle alone in these difficult times.
“There will always be a time in our lives where we need to move on to the other side. The good thing is that Jesus did not say to them, go over to the other side alone. Jesus was not going to leave them alone, he was going to be with them on the journey."
Was Jesus with us in January when we entered the new year? Yes, he was with us. Was Jesus with us on 1st January, yes he was with us. Was he with us when all Christians were declaring the good things that were going to happen in 2020? Yes, he was with them,” the ICGC founder exclaimed.
He stressed that just as Jesus was with his disciples throughout the storm until he ordered the seas and the wind to be call, Jesus will also continue to be with believers through the coronavirus storm.
