Residents of Amrahia near Oyibi in the Greater Accra region have appealed to the Inspector General of Police and the Interior Minister to deploy security officers to avert activities of land guards and armed robbers attacks in the area.
The residents told Joy News they were living in fear due to series of armed robberies activities in the area which they said were carried out by some land guards in the community.
The land guards are in the area to protect land belonging to a private estate developer but have turned out to terrorize the residents.
The culprits who lived in uncompleted buildings have become landlords without whose consent nothing worked in the area.
Some of the residents said the land guards had made it impossible for them to walk freely in the area even during the day and that several appeals to the Police to intervene had not been heeded to.
The assemblyman of Amrahia, Charles Tamakloe who confirmed the complaints of the residents said the situation had hit alarming proportions and urged the authorities to act quickly to avoid a clash between the residents and the land guards.
