Samia Yaba Nkrumah, Chairperson and Leader of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), on Friday urged the public to resolve to promote the virtues that Christ represents and allow these to guide them to serve their fellow countrymen and women with humility and honesty.
In a Christmas message released in Accra, she said: “The birth of Christ represents hope, peace and goodwill for all mankind and his teachings of love and sacrifice are things that we as Ghanaians must aspire to and reflect on.
“These are qualities that we want to cultivate in all our relationships and associations with one another as we constantly remind ourselves that we are one nation, one people and with one destiny.”
Ms Nkrumah said Ghana, Africa and the world still faced a great challenge with unacceptable high levels of disease, poverty and illiteracy, among other social ills.
“As a nation, we have continued to consolidate our democracy, overcoming excessive intolerance and rigidity,” she said.
“Our prayer as a political party is that we as a people will cultivate the spirit of moral courage in the conduct of our affairs and prioritise the issues that affect the majority of our citizens,” the CPP Chairperson added.
“It is our wish that the examples of love, compassion and selflessness that are synonymous with Christ guide us as we seek to renew ourselves and transform our communities.
“Let us also remember all those who have suffered loss and tragedy this year,” Ms Nkrumah said.
