Ghana’s fastest rapper, Sarkodie has won the ‘Best Hip Hop’ at the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban, South Africa Saturday night.
Sarkodie beat AKA (South Africa), Ice Prince (Nigeria), Khuli Chana (South Africa), and Olamide (Nigeria) to win the award.
Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage beat Ghana’s songstress Efya to the 'Best Female' category. That category also had Arielle T (Gabon), Chidinma (Nigeria), DJ C’ndo (South Africa) as nominees.
Shortly after winning the award, Sarkodie took to microblogging site, Twitter to thank God and his fans for helping him win the award.
“Teamsark I looove you!!!! Thanks 2 God almighty!!! We won!!!! GHANA!!! Thanks for ur vote . God bless yall”, he tweeted and added that, “God is Good”.
Ghanaian hiphop artiste, D-Black also congratulated Sarkodie on his win. “Raaaaah!!! @sarkodie wins the @MTVbaseAfrica award for Best HipHop!!!!!! Congrats ma gee!!!!”
