Police in the Western region have arrested a man posing as a staff of the ECG in the Western region enabling him to engage in illegal meter transfer, illegal possession of prepaid cards and service registration forms.
David Fameye, in his mid thirties works with a private security firm in Takoradi. He was arrested Tuesday 17th June at Effiakuma a suburb of Takoradi.
The Regional Public Relations Officer of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Philip Osei Bonsu who confirmed his arrest tells Radio Maxx’ Nana Adjoa Entsuah that the arrest was after a tip off.
David Fameye had being posing after a staff of ECG. They found in his possession six prepaid cars, forms for new services and other documents.
ECG according to Mr. Osei Bonsu complained about the effect of illegal activities on the operations of the power company.
‘’The company loses a lot of revenue through such illegal acts and we are ready to do everything within their power to end this canker’’.
“If you want to see the survival of a company like E.C.G we don’t have to engage in such acts”
He advised the general public to use the right channel in acquiring their services. Clients who deal with middle men or self-styled ECG staff does so at their own risk, he warned.
David Fameye is currently on bail as the Takoradi Police Command investigates the case.
