Employers have been advised to place a premium on the soft skills of graduates who seek job opportunities.
The CEO of Tropical Cables, Tony Oteng Gyasi, believes graduates need more of such soft skills to survive on the job market.
He was speaking at the 11th and 12th Congregation of the Ghana Baptist University College in Kumasi.
Possessing a bank of soft skills is more critical than having a qualification in the modern workplace.
That is according to Tony Oteng Gyasi who was a guest speaker at the congregation of the Ghana Baptist University College.
"Now when I look at the C.V I quickly glance through the academic qualifications that the applicant may have. When looking for an employee, we're looking for soft skills like integrity, punctuality, honesty, critical thinking skills, ability to solve problems, those are some of the things you would want to find in an employee," he noted.
Mr. Oteng Gyasi reiterated the need for graduates to venture into entrepreneurship to reduce unemployment in the country.
"Graduates need to recognise opportunities around their environment to start a business," he said

A total of 829 students of the 2019 and 2020 year groups graduated from the university.
The fourth President of the Ghana Baptist University College, Prof Joe Oteng Adjei, appealed to the government to make student loans accessible for students in private schools.
"The students in private universities must have access to students loans and other subsidies enjoyed by students who attend public universities," he appealed.
Winifred Mensah and Grace Mills Robertson were crowned overall best graduating students.
