The Vice-Chancellor of the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Prof. Osei-Wusu Achaw, is urging government to speed up infrastructural provision in the school.
The call is in response to the growing student population at the institution as the school admitted over 6,000 new students this year.
Authorities say the situation has put pressure on accommodation, classroom and laboratory facilities.
Prof. Osei-Wusu Achaw says government has promised to fulfil the school’s infrastructural needs but wants the process to be expedited.
“Though the government is providing additional classroom and accommodation, the pace ought to match the pace the student numbers are increasing,” he said.
The school currently runs 22 BTech programs after transitioning to a university.
The Vice-Chancellor hinted of plans to introduce PhD programs in the coming years.
“Now we have over six masters programmes. The ultimate goal is to introduce DTech programmes in the next two to three years,” Prof. Osei-Wusu Achaw said.
