The First Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah says he will comment on the developments in the party at 0700 hours on his facebook page tomorrow, Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
He disclosed this to Adom News in an exclusive phone interview from his London base.
Dr. Spio-Garbrah has been very vocal about events in the party and about the performance of the government.
“I will put all my comments in an article on my facebook on Tuesday,” he told Adom News’ Sammy Mantey.
He also promised to end all speculations about his political future in that comment.
Before Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings launched her campaign, pundits threw Dr. Spio-Garbrah’s name out as the favourite for the Rawlings faction to challenge President Mills for the 2012 presidential slot of the party.
Meanwhile, there had also been speculations about Dr. Spio-Garbrah to be the running mate Nana Konadu. This is contrary to earlier suggestion that agreed had been reached for Dr Spio-Garbrah to be the frontrunner with Mrs Rawlings as his running mate.
Dr. Spio-Garbrah was one of three candidates who lost the party’s presidential slot to Prof. Mills in 2006. Unhappy with Prof. Mills' leadership style of governance after the NDC came to power, Dr. Spio-Garbrah described the government as sick and its ministers as Team B.
Political Analyst and Lawyer Osei Kwadwo believed that Dr. Spio-Garbrah would give Nana Konadu and President Mills a run for their money if he decides to contest.
According to him, Dr. Spio-Garbrah might not be eying victory in 2012 but would use it as preparation for the future.
Meanwhile, Nana Konadu has launched her campaign and called on party members to be bold and reject bribes from the Mills camp and vote President Mills out.
Her husband, former President Rawlings, and Campaign Manager Michael Teye Nyaunu cast aspersions on the Mills government and party executives during the campaign launch.
but would Dr. Spio-Garbrah add to the insults, or speak against the insults?
