Ghanaian musician Star Sewa has made a comeback with his second single of the year titled ‘Gboza’ to express gratitude to God.
The song follows the love-themed ‘Anwanwado’, released in the first quarter of 2025.

Although a secular highlife artiste, Gboza, released in July 2025, is a soul-stirring gospel-themed piece that doubles as a heartfelt thanksgiving to God. According to Star Sewa, his almost half-a-decade music career has had a fair share of hurdles to overcome, but God’s abundant blessings have been very evident in his life. What better way to show appreciation and gratitude than to compose a song to praise God!
The song is accompanied by a beautifully shot music video, and delivers sweet melodies wrapped in the timeless rhythms of authentic Ghanaian highlife. Many young musicians have abandoned Highlife and are experimenting with trendier dominant sounds like Afrobeats, however, Star Sewa stands firm in his conviction that highlife remains Ghana’s truest musical identity.
“Highlife is our authentic sound,” he insists, “and no matter what trends come and go, it will always carry the soul of Ghana.”

Star Sewa explains that Gboza is not just another single - it is part of a growing catalogue of works through which he hopes to keep the highlife tradition alive for a new generation of listeners. With smooth instrumentation, memorable hooks, and a powerful message of gratitude, the song reminds audiences that highlife still has the power to move, inspire, and connect.
By choosing to stay rooted in highlife, Star Sewa joins a small but significant group of young artistes working to preserve the originality of Ghana’s sound. In doing so, he positions himself not only as a musician, but as a cultural torchbearer, making Gboza a statement of pride and purpose.
