Chancellor of N’Asem University, Rev. Gabriel Ansah has cautioned politicians to refrain from verbally attacking pastors who speak on the happenings in the country.
He said such attacks on Pastors have the tendency of quenching the voice of God on the land.
“Anytime a man of God comes public to speak, we bastardize the man of God, run him down, disgrace him and so forth. In so doing, we quench the voice of God on the land,” he said.
Rev. Ansah said it had become an unfortunate past-time for politicians to reprimand Church leaders who discuss issues of governance and the economy.
Speaking on the topic: “Has the Church Failed Ghana?” on Joy FM’s Christian talk show programme Sunday - A Walk with Jesus, Rev. Ansah urged the government and all other politicians to rather humble themselves while taking counsel from Pastors.
“There must be something called humility of government to take counsel from the men of God. If a man of God speaks, the government must take it and tell its people, 'don’t go and insult the man of God,'” he maintained.
Rev. Ansah further argued that the Church has become quiet on national issues because Ghanaians vilify and tag them politically when they speak on national issues.
He cited Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams’ prayer for the rise of the falling cedi. The prayer received a barrage of criticism from both politicians and a section of the public.
Rev. Ansah, who preaches on Adom FM, continued to admonish the Church to be proactive, support good policies and also perform its soul winning role efficiently.
