Education Minister, Lee Ocran has announced that government is considering a review of the Student’s Loan Scheme to benefit deprived student.The innovation is expected to take into consideration individual and family financial position of applicants before determining if students qualify for the loan.The Minister announced this at the Meet-the-Press series in Accra and explained the move is to offer adequate financial relief to needy students.The Minister also announced 65,000 Junior High School teachers across the country are expected to benefit from the government free laptop project by the end of the year.He said the provision of the laptops to the teachers was part of the government’s efforts to enhance the quality of ICT education in basic schools.The Minister also revealed that government will establish additional 200 community day Senior High Schools across the country in an effort to expand access to secondary school education in the country.Currently, there are 2, 300 schools under trees which government is hoping to eliminate by providing concrete buildings to replace them.The Minister further said the administration has provided 3,000, 000 school uniforms to be given to pupils in basic school all over the country.
