Three players of DR Congo top flight club DC Motema Pembe (DCMP) were killed in a car accident on Friday in Kinshasa, the local authorities told reporters.
International goalkeeper Guelor Dibulana, strikers Hugues Muyenge and Mozart Mwanza were returning from a prayer service at their local church Saint-Dominique in Kinshasa in preparation for Easter when their car was hit by a truck.
Their team mate Mbindi, who was driving, survived, alongside another passenger, but both sustained grave injuries, according to hospital reports.
DCMP were to face AS Vita Club on Easter Sunday in the third match day of the Linafoot – the DR Congo domestic division one league. It is unclear whether the fixture will be postponed.
The club’s management refused to take questions from supersports.com, saying it was too early to make any statement.
