Ghana's Black Queens put on a commendable performance at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. The team narrowly lost to hosts Morocco in the semi-finals via a 4-2 penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regular time on July 22, 2025, at the Olympic Stadium Rabat.
Despite missing out on a place in the final, which would have been the first time since 2006, the Black Queens’ campaign has won the hearts of many Ghanaians.

The Black Queens lost 4-2 on penalties to Morocco after Stella Nyamekye scored for Ghana and Sakina Ouzraoui equalized for the hosts, with Morocco eventually winning on penalties.
