Seidu Salifu has expressed his disappointment after he was overlooked by the Black Stars technical team in calling up a 23 man squad for the upcoming 2017 Afcon qualifier against Mauritius.
The former Black Satellites midfielder, who won his first career league title with Tunisian giants Club Africain on Tuesday, started 26 out of 30 matches for the Reds this season but still failed to make the cut in Avram Grant's se;ection.
Salifu has previously been called up for the team in March as they played Senegal and Mali in France.
"I am very disappointed but those called up are equally good players," he lamented in an interview with Joy Sports.
"For me as a player I want to play for my country and this is a big disappointment considering my consistency this season but I thank God. This is football."
Salifu played 80 minutes as Club Africain won 2-1 at Esperance Sportive de Zarzis on the final day of competition and is excited at earning right to play in the 2016 CAF Champions League in his first season with the Reds.
"I feel very great because it's very important for my career. I'm the happiest guy in world because we fought from the beginning and this is the time to celebrate."
Ghana play Mauritius on June 14 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
