Two persons have been shot and killed by unknown assailants in what police suspect to be reprisals in connection with some violence which occurred in the Manhyia South Constituency during the 2012 electioneering campaign.
The two, suspected to have masterminded the shooting of one Maphus, a political activist were treated in the same fashion in broad day light this afternoon at Ashtown, a Kumasi suburb.
Maphus survived the attack but the two did not.
Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkoh reports that residents are shocked and have swarmed the scene to see things for themselves.
The two were among a group of young men who were drinking at a bar prior to the incident.
One of the young men said the assailants fired a warning shot first before shooting the leg of one of the deceased persons pounced on him, butchered and again opened fire on him again at close range.
They have vowed to retaliate.
Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Mohammed Tanko identified the deceased persons as Victor Ocran and Kwadwo Asamoah popular called 'Gauso.'
According to him, Gauso has been on the police wanted list in connection with the attack on Maphus during the 2012 General elections.
He told Joy News they suspect Wednesday's attack was in retaliation to the attack in December but added they are still investigating the matter.
No arrests have yet been made. Tanko said police have been deployed to the area to ensure that families and friends of the recent attack do not take the law into their own hands.
