The CEO of Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) has paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to commiserate with him and the Asante Kingdom following the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Philip Oti-Mensah expressed the bank’s profound sympathy to the Asantehene and the royal family.
“The passing of the Asantehemaa is a great loss not only to Asanteman but to the entire nation.
"As an indigenous Ghanaian bank with over 50 years of history, standing with Asanteman in such a time as this is not only a reflection of our deep respect for Otumfuo’s leadership, but also of our shared commitment to the prosperity of our people.”

Dr. Oti-Mensah, in leading UMB’s delegation to extend condolences and support for the mourning rites, was accompanied by senior executives, including Divisional Head 2, Victor Brijuu; Head of Corporate Communications, Edem Knight-Tay; Acting Zonal Head, Ashanti, Victor Ampomah; and Adum Branch Manager, Gabriel Nyantakyi.
The Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, passed away at the age of 98 on Thursday, August 7.
She was celebrated for her remarkable leadership, wise counsel, and motherly influence in the affairs of the Ashanti Kingdom. Preparations are underway for her royal funeral rites.
UMB’s commiseration visit underscores the institution’s deep cultural ties and its recognition of the pivotal role of traditional authority in national life.
