Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Asiama, has praised the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his enduring leadership, describing it as a source of stability and wisdom that continues to support Ghana’s national development.
Dr Asiama made the remarks when the Asantehene paid a courtesy visit to him at the Bank Square in Accra on Wednesday, January 7.
Although ceremonial, the visit was seen as reinforcing constructive engagement between traditional authority and the country’s economic leadership at a time when Ghana is steadily advancing towards financial stability.
Addressing Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the BoG Governor said the nation has benefited immensely from the Asantehene’s calm and principled leadership style, which he noted is rooted in wisdom and moderation.
He observed that in periods of national strain, the Asantehene has consistently demonstrated that genuine authority is exercised through balance and restraint rather than spectacle.
According to Dr Asiama, this commitment to stability has elevated the Asantehene’s influence beyond chieftaincy matters and social cohesion, making his voice significant in wider national discussions on development, discipline and progress.
He described Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as a unifying figure whose leadership continues to inspire confidence across multiple sectors of Ghanaian society.
“Otumfuo, Ghana has long benefitted from your brand of leadership, your quiet steadiness and your deep wisdom. In a moment of national tension, you have reminded us that authority is not exercised through noise or fuss but through balance, restraint and moral clarity."
“That instinct for stability has made your voice relevant. Not only matters of chieftaincy and social cohesion, but also in the broader national conversation about development discipline and progress.”
