The Women’s Commissioner of University of Professional Studies, Graduate Students Association of Ghana, Desiree Patience Monfankye, has presented items worth GH¢10,000 Ghana to the Christ Faith Foster Home at Frafraha In Accra.
The donation formed part of the GRASAG UPSA WOCOM’s initiative to put smiles on the faces of children at the home during the Easter festivities.
Items donated were detergents, educational materials, bags of rice, assorted drinks, cooking oil, new clothes, buckets and toiletries among others.
Presenting the items, Ms Monfankye, noted that Easter is a period of almsgiving. She added that her obligations as a Catholic mandates her to give to the less privileged in society.
"As Catholics, after observing Lent with prayers and fasting are expected to give alms to the needy in society as part of Easter celebrations," she said.
She disclosed that the gesture to assist the orphanage would boost the morale of children at the facility and give them a sense of belonging to the society.
“We believe in giving which the Bible speaks of and putting smiles on the faces of these children as we observe the death of Christ,"” she noted.
She advised the children not to be deterred by their orphan status. She urged them to strive to achieve their dreams when they grow up.
"Everyone must get to his or her destination, make Jesus Christ the centre of your life and He will definitely lead you to your destination, no matter the circumstances," she said.
Receiving the items, Mr Abraham Danso, a caretaker Christ Faith Foster Home, expressed gratitude to the WOCOM for the gesture and assured her that the items will be put to good use.
